Lowes to Ride for Smith at Silverstone and Misano
PATA Yamaha Official WorldSBK rider set to replace injured compatriot Bradley Smith in MotoGP
Alex Lowes will be back on track before Lausitzring, as the WorldSBK rider prepares to take part in the Octo British Grand Prix and the following Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini at Misano. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Bradley Smith sustained an injury during practice for the Oschersleben 8H endurance event, lacerating his thigh and subsequently undergoing surgery. Smith has now been ruled out of the next two GPs - and it's PATA Yamaha rider Alex Lowes who has been called up to stand in.
Lowes recently tested the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machine at the post-Brno MotoGP test as a reward for his performance in the 2016 Suzuka 8H alongside Pol Espargaro, and will be raring to get back on track as the British GP approaches; beginning his MotoGP journey with his home round on 2nd September.
